Overview of Fellowship
Study Guide Project
Fellowship Responsibility
It is the responsibility of each
Greek Fellow to develop curriculum — in the form
of Study
Guides — pertaining to the study of Greece, based
on his/her discipline or area of interest. Serious consideration
should be given to this project as the year progresses.
The curriculum development project will be presented at
the reception at Brandeis University held to welcome new
Greek Study Fellows into The
Examined Life program. Each project will be considered
for publication on this website.
Project Write-up Format
The required format for
the preliminary write-up to be submitted in May at the
last class session is as follows:
Submit your documents in electronic form
- Word or Powerpoint, embed images or provide clear instructions about where to place them in the text
- Attach and send files by email, studyguides@teachgreece.org, or copy them onto a PC/Mac-compatible CD or DVD and mail them (contact us for mailing details)
- Provide accompanying photos or images in digital format, jpg preferred -- we highly encourage inclusion of photos showing examples of student work related to your study guide
- Provide your contact info, phone, email for follow up
Authorship
For purposes of publishing and copyright, you MUST acknowledge any text, images, sound, video, pictures that are not your own. You must include proper annotation that clearly identifies each piece of non-original material, where it came from, and who to contact for permission to use the material. If you have already acquired permissions -- signed releases from parents, artists, authors, etc. -- to use material, submit them with your document or mail them to us (contact us for mailing details).
Organization
Organize your document into the following sections:
Cover Page
- Title:
- Author:
- School and grade taught:
- Year of Fellowship:
- Intended for grades:
- One-paragraph summary of the project:
Overview
- Provide a detailed explanation of what your project is about – elaborate on your introductory one-paragraph summary.
Objectives
- Provide a list of learning objectives you hope students will achieve
- The list should follow the form, "The student will be able to . . ."
Assignment
- Provide a list, with descriptions, of all assignment(s) you want students to accomplish
- The list should be in the active voice and follow the form, "Have (each/all/your/...) student(s) . . .
- Provide complete and detailed descriptions of all activities and procedures
Materials
- Provide a list of all materials needed for successful implementation of the project
- Include a student reading list
Assessment
- Provide criteria for assessing student performance (rubric)
MCAS Curriculum Frameworks
- Provide a list of all MCAS Curriculum Frameworks addressed
- The list should follow the form, "Framework, Strand, Topic, and number" (e.g., Arts Curriculum Framework, Visual Arts Strand, Topic 1: Methods, Materials, and Techniques, 1.5, 1.6, 1.8)
Bibliography
- Provide a complete list of specific sources you used in creating your curriculum guide or that you think would be helpful to teachers interested in additional reference material
- Follow standard bibliographic notation
