Sites and Information on the Internet:

  • The Perseus Project This comprehensive site includes an extensive database of classical Greek texts, art and archeology. It is designed for the university level reader but some parts can be utilized by younger students.
  • Odysseus This is the WWW server of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture. The site from the Greek government has information, including pictures, of all the major and many minor historical and cultural sites of greece.
  • The Greeks This is the companion website for the recent (Feb. 2000) public television series. It has many nice features including an interactive timeline, reader's theatre version of Sophocle's play Oedipus Rex, and an excellent page of links.
  • Odyssey Online This site from the Carlos Museum at Emory University and the University of Rochester Museum is aimed towards students in the middle grades and has some nice information. It also has sections on other ancient civilizations.
  • The Greek World This site by the University of Pennsylvania Museum is aimed towards school children and has sections on several aspects of Greek life and culture.
  • Ancient Greece Online Resources and Greek Mythology These two sites were developed by a Greek Studies Fellow in the Wellesley Public Schools. Each contains a list of web links and are approriate for students in grades 4-12 who wish to learn more about Greek history and culture.
